With my reduced hours during the pandemic and furlough arrangements it is sometimes difficult to respond as quickly as I would like.”

“First of all, our partner Andy Jones was incredibly supportive and dealt with all queries promptly and efficiently, even when things got a little stressful towards the end. There were times when it felt a bit disconnected, largely due to the fact that the audit was done remotely. When the team finished the field work there were a few weeks with no contact and then it all got a bit stressful towards the end. Overall, great though and I have recommended you to another school during the year, who did appoint you. Just one thing..it is apparent that the academies team are extremely overstretched at that time of the year and as a client it is obvious.”

“As a whole I have been very impressed with Cooper Parry and the individuals I have had dealings with throughout the year so far. Everyone has been so patient and approachable. The audit was a challenge due to it being the first audit and having to do things differently because of COVID and in a slightly different way to what I have been used to. However that being said, now I have a year under my belt, I know what to provide in readiness for the following year and hopefully, can have it ready in good time for next years audit. I am however used to dealing with one individual as my main point of contact throughout the year and so far this year I have dealt with a different person for each of the returns. This being said, it all comes down to change when working with a different company. I did have a general query about anything through the year I’m not sure who I should make contact with.”

“I felt there was little preparation for the audit, which took place in September 2020, the first with CP, although this may partly have been due to the restrictions arising from COVID-19. The preparation of the accounts was also problematic; the first draft appeared only a day before the agenda papers were due to be sent out, and it was full of errors, both in terms of the figures and text. Clearly, no one had even glanced at them before they were sent to me. Then multiple drafts had to be produced after that as my amendments were missed. There was also some confusion after the final draft had been approved, as I expected to hear again from CP with instructions as to your procedure for signature, but I heard nothing. The whole experience was very far removed from the service we received from our previous auditor. I am hoping the next audit will proceed more smoothly, as our charity will be known to the audit team (assuming the members remain the same), and CP now has a reasonable draft of the TAR and financial statements on its system from which to work. Having said this, I found the team very pleasant and helpful, and I felt the difficulties arose mainly because they were clearly working under a lot of pressure and maybe in a different culture to the one I am used to working in.”
