“We are satisfied so far with Cooper Parry. We are working with a number of teams within CP and some we would describe as 4 or 5 out of 5, some 2 or 3, so this is a blended average. The tax and R&D teams have been superb. In general, your people are great, all extremely passionate, positive and knowledgeable in their respective areas. All teams are very responsive. A review of your pricing across all teams is required urgently (in our opinion), some of the hourly rates we have been quoted for ad-hoc work is phenomenal (more than big 4 pricing), and ultimately we have had no choice but to pay it as we needed the work doing quickly, but as part of a longer term partnership we don’t want to feel like that when it comes to requesting additional help or support and we don’t want to start taking work outside of CP as our intention is to have one partner who understands our business in depth. Our 2 audits so far have been painful, the first one more so than the other, which resulted in the audit cost effectively doubling. We can’t get our heads around how we have sailed through previous audits in 2 relatively easy/pain free weeks for the last 10-15 years, but the last 2 audits have dragged out way beyond that.”

However, was very disappointed when at VAT ‘expert’ was fielded to deal with RCV and it became quite obvious that I knew more than he did and it turned out the advice he was spouting was patently very wrong! Was more more upsetting was that it became very obvious he hadn’t even bothered to read the briefing document I spent time preparing – rude, unprofessional and potentially very dangerous for us if we had taken his advice. This was one poor thing in many years of a sound relationship – but nearly went elsewhere for the advice.”
