“The audit process was difficult for the Trust finance team this year. There seemed to be a lack of effective audit management. Timetables were shifted and key schedules, submitted at the outset, were not given timely consideration. Incorrect data samples were sent to Trust finance staff, resulting in wasted time and effort and general frustration. The audit close meeting was held before the audit was closed. The partner presentation to Trustees was well received and the AAR management was effective.”

It would be great to have a hybrid audit with remote and face to face interaction in the future. Since Covid we have experienced just remote audits and this has its own challenges. I think remote communication in the initial stages of the audit is appropriate but it would be good to have onsite/face to face during the final scrutiny stages to allow for the miss communications (lack of understanding from our end of the requests made, mostly) to be addressed at the time.”
