“Things that went well: 1) The team were very pleasant and their work was efficient 2) We felt confident in the team’s knowledge of accounting and auditing standards 3) The use of technology made the fieldwork a smoother process, e.g. the use of Inflo and audit staff being confident using log ins to our systems Improvement areas: 1) The assignment of staff didn’t work with our finance team. There were a large volumes of staff assigned for short periods, and with 2 internal finance staff we couldn’t turn requests around fast enough. This meant staff without business knowledge were picking the work up later down the line, and we ended up explaining the same fundamental concepts again and again to different people. It would also have been beneficial to get the Inflo requests lists in advance of the fieldwork, so we could have given you the basics beforehand (fixed asset registers, sales listings etc.) 2) We didn’t receive advance communications where timelines were slipping. We understand it happens, but we need to be forewarned so we can set expectations with the board.”

“Very happy overall with CP. Haven’t given the 5th star as was slightly disappointed with the communication this year around needing to submit the R&D claim in August which meant accounts / tax return had to be turned around v quikcly. Very little notice given. Otherwise everything great. “

“We struggle consistently being able to meet our audit deadline due to constant changes with the audit team. We have to reexplain our processes and accounts annually which is always a challenge and once we think the teams has an understanding of our business processes, we are given a new team. “

“It seems like every time we have a request it is being hit with additional charges above and beyond our stated fee. CP assisted with a HRMC VAT Tax issue. We have not received our refund from HMRC that CP assisted in calculating. CP wants to charge additional for assistance in getting the refund. Also seems like administrative functions are being billed at a very high rate. (Request assistance in closing a legal entity that has been dormant”

“It feels like in some areas we are duplicating work or going over things that we have previously agreed when it comes to the audit. Also when it comes to billing (around tax) it feels like we are paying for someone to do the work and then again for someone to check the work. “

“Good insights provided. Nice team to deal with. Need more consistency of team members and where this is not possible a better handover should be provided to new members. Need strong manager oversight on all audits, in particular where there are complex transactions etc. Improved communication between audit team and finance functions within the business.”
