What do you do?

I get involved in the tax aspect of any merger and acquisition transaction – whether it’s due diligence to ensure your investment decision is sound from a tax perspective or pre-transaction structuring to ensure you get the most tax efficient outcome.

Why do you do it?

After completing my degree in economics, I knew for sure that I was not going to be an economist and was looking for a career that was considered stable and structured (or as we say in Chinese) an ‘Iron rice bowl’ job. The accounting profession was the closest thing I could think of and I went ahead with it. I joined the transaction tax team at one of the big four firms in 2017 and pursued my CA concurrently. Since then, I’ve never left transaction tax and continue to work in it when I joined CP in 2021.

The CP transaction tax team has been a wonderful family to be part of and CP brings such a vibrant and fun vibe to my working life with flexible working practices and emphasis on wellbeing

What kind of projects have you been involved in?

For the past 4 years I’ve worked with all types of businesses, large and small, in many jurisdictions across the world, and across all sectors. I support my amazing team with providing you with no-nonsense practical tax advice.

What’s on top of your bucket list?

I’ve been learning snowboarding all summer and I can’t wait to put what I’ve learned to the test on a real mountain and hopefully shred some gnar!
