What do you do?

I am an Employment Tax Partner based in our Manchester office. I am dual CTA and ATT (Fellow) qualified and have now been working in Employment Tax for nearly 20 Years (where has the time gone)! I joined CP from a Top 10 Accountancy firm where I was part of the Employment Tax senior leadership team for 8 years, and prior to this I began my career working in the Big 4 for over 10 years. I love working in Employment Tax, it has got me in front of some of the largest names in Business and Sport over the last 20 years and I can add real value to any business given one (if not) the largest cost to them will be Employment related.

I am also a member of the Chartered Institute of Tax’s (CIOT) Employment Tax Technical Committee and I have also held a role within the CIOT Qualification team. This helps me stay at the cutting edge of tax policy within the field of Employment tax. I have experience and enjoy working with clients in all sectors, however I have developed a niche interest in the Real Estate and Construction sectors, helping clients navigate the complexities of the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) over a number of years. I regularly contribute to CIOT representations to HMRC via the Construction Forum and have written a number of articles on CIS over the last few years, as well as being selected as a speaker to a number of stakeholder and industry groups.

Why do you do it?

I fell into it! Having studied a broad Business Management degree at Lancaster University, I became hooked on the area of People Management and Employee Incentivisation. When a Big 4 firm was looking for a graduate to join their Employer Reward team, I was sold and the rest is history.

What kind of projects have you been involved in?

I have saved clients hundreds of thousands of pounds in overpaid employment tax over the years – and in some cases millions of pounds! This is through ensuring they are taking advantage of the various employment tax exemptions available to businesses which are so often overlooked.

What’s top of your bucket list?

I love to travel – so a year of around the world travel has to top it – its on the retirement list!
