What do you do?
I help companies to claim the UK government’s Research & Development (R&D) incentives and assist them in understanding how the rules apply to their development activities and identifying eligible claim expenditure.
Why do you do it?
Since I began working in R&D tax incentives, I have helped many UK businesses successfully claim back millions of pounds. I’ve heard, and in many cases seen, the direct impact of the claim benefit on their businesses and how companies have been able to further their R&D efforts – this is why I love what I do.
I have an engineering doctorate (EngD) and industrial experience working in R&D in FMCG and contract manufacturing as well as experience working in the pharmaceutical sector. This helps me to understand and identify what R&D clients are undertaking and how they go about it.
What kind of projects have you been involved in?
I’ve been involved in claims for clients ranging in size from IT start-ups to multinational listed entities. I’ve assisted clients in a wide range of sectors too, including chocolate factories, electric vehicle manufacturers, energy suppliers, software houses, waste management.
What’s on top of your bucket list?
A trip to the Masai Mara and hopefully see the Big 5.
