What do you do?

I work with all sorts of exciting companies on venture capital schemes and employee incentives.

My role includes advising companies on ways to incentivise employees using share schemes, providing support with design, valuation and implementation as well as effective use of venture capital schemes in high growth companies.

Why do you do it?

Once upon a time I had grand plans to become a lawyer but completed my degree and decided to try tax instead (with little understanding of what the job would actually entail).  I trained in a team specialising in venture capital and share scheme advisory and never looked back. I thrive on being busy, so the fast pace and range of projects required for our clients suits me perfectly.

What kind of projects have you been involved with?

I’ve worked on so many different aspects of the lifecycle of a company, from early-stage investment through SEIS, EMI share scheme for the first employees, complex EIS advisory on significant funding rounds, then growth shares as the company builds towards exit and finally, advising on a sale.

We don’t just work in the high-growth sector though so there are lots of different projects on the go

What’s on the top of your bucket list?

I’d love to do a big holiday discovering South America, there are so many countries I want to visit and cultures to explore – I might need a gap year to see enough!
