What do you do?

I started at Cooper Parry in 2017 as CFO – the accountant for the accountants (!). I sit on our Board and Executive Team. My role is broad and includes looking after the firm’s finances and funding requirements.

Why do you do it?

I’ve always worked in much bigger businesses before but I took a call from a friend one day about joining CP and I jumped at the chance once I’d met some of the people here. The culture in the business is fantastic – we really want to make a difference in everything we do. I’m highly  supported but given as much room as I want to drive things forward and to build the right teams around me. I rely heavily on those teams and really enjoy working with them. No two days are ever the same – I love the variety and the fast pace we move at!

What kind of projects have you been involved in?

In the three and a half years I’ve been here I’ve helped to complete the integration after our merger in the West Midlands, led the divestment of some areas of the business that we didn’t feel were part of the firm’s longer-term future, refinanced all of our main banking facilities with HSBC, supported the opening of offices in London, and started the process of reviewing and upgrading our central systems.

That’s all in addition to an enormous amount of change to how we do things within the Finance team, with an increased focus on data and insight, which is helping us to do our bit to drive the business forward every day.

What’s on top of your bucket list?

I have an ever-growing bucket list!! It’s hard to pick what should be top but I’d be really keen to see The Killers in their home town in Las Vegas, and then maybe hit the tables…
