What do you do?

As a Sustainability Advisor for CP I help calculate our internal carbon emissions and generate strategies for reduction to reach our Net Zero by 2030 target.  

Externally I primarily work with clients to help them understand their carbon footprint output through Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions and work with them to set up obtainable and measurable goals in the short, medium and long term as they embark on their own carbon footprint journey. 

Why do you do it?

I became an accountant as during my studies at all levels numbers made more sense to me than the words ever did. I found that during my time at university I was fascinated by environmental accounting as it took an idea so simple but was highly qualitative and attempted to turn it into quantitative data. Thankfully since my studies this concept has evolved drastically with effective frameworks now in place. We now have tangible, evidenced based measurements to build our understanding on how we impact the world around us and being able to contribute to that I find immensely rewarding and am a firm believer in leaving a place better than you found it.  

What kind of projects have you been involved in?

I have helped prepare our own carbon footprint report using an evidenced based approach and helped evaluate our progress to Net Zero by 2030.  

 I worked with a multinational client to help prepare them for future ESG reporting requirements that impact their entity and consolidated levels, so they are able to generate an action plan and understand the way the ESG reporting is evolving and how this will impact their business. 

 I have also worked with clients to understand their carbon emissions and work to reducing these combined with using the information generated to use for their B-Corp application. 

What’s on top of your bucket list?

Top of my bucket list would be to travel around Greece and Italy for a few months working in the fields up picking up odd jobs on my way around. My partner loves reading classics in her spare time and exploring that ancient culture with her would be magical, not to mention they were the founders of double entry bookkeeping, and I wouldn’t have a career without them.
