What do you do?

I’m an Audit Director at Cooper Parry, operating out of our amazing Birmingham office, but with WFAAF (Working From Anywhere. Anytime. Forever), I could be at any of our offices, at home, or on the other side of the globe!

I am the main point of contact for my clients and am ultimately responsible for signing their audit opinion. I therefore work closely with my clients to understand their business, listen to their challenges and help them find solutions. I, alongside the CP audit team, set out to ensure my clients have a tailored, thorough and efficient audit process. I also work on pitches for new clients, with my focus being owner managed / PE backed mid-market businesses.

Why do you do it?

I was a numbers nerd at school (and still am to be completely honest…) and that ultimately led me down the path of accountancy. What I love about audit though is that it gives me opportunities to build relationships with my clients and team members, and help them problem solve.

It really is true that no one day is the same, no one week is the same, and that makes the job even more interesting and exciting – I never know what my day has in store!

To top it off, CP is an amazing employer and the cultural environment here is incredible. The focus on staff wellbeing and the benefits on offer truly help me balance my work and social life perfectly.

What kind of projects have you been involved in?

Although I have a focus on owner managed / PE backed mid-market businesses, I have worked with a wide range of businesses including small businesses, large international groups and listed businesses, across a variety of sectors. This exposure brings different challenges, deadlines and complexities but I continue to learn something new every week!

Outside of my audit clients, I manage a number of Audit Managers and have a hand in a range of operational projects for CP.

What’s on top of your bucket list?

I’m a huge Man Utd fan and I’d love to get back to visiting Old Trafford on a regular basis, although maybe when our performances have improved and we aren’t losing every game! I also absolutely love travelling and have been lucky enough to explore various countries in recent years, with many more on the list for years to come!
