We’re doubling down on its commitment to the automotive sector. Following the acquisition of UHY Manchester LLP, including its successful automotive team, last year, we’ve continued to expand and evolve our offering to meet the sector’s changing needs. With a strengthened focus on client support, Ian McMahon has been appointed our new Head of Automotive

Ian’s been a driving force in the automotive industry for nearly three decades, working closely with clients to navigate challenges and seize opportunities. As demand for transaction services, tax advisory, and legal support continues to grow, his leadership marks a new chapter in CP’s national automotive strategy.

The automotive team, based out of our Manchester Superhub, provides a comprehensive suite of services, including audit, advisory, corporate finance, and legal expertise. With Ian at the helm, we’re set to enhance its support for clients across the entire automotive ecosystem – from motor retail to supply chain manufacturers.

Ian McMahon, CP’s Head of Automotive, said:

“Collaborating with clients in the motor trade has been a truly rewarding experience. Over the past 27 years, I’ve been continually impressed by the sector’s resilience and adaptability in the face of technological shifts and economic challenges. The passion people have for this industry is undeniable, with many dedicating their entire careers to it.

Being appointed Head of Automotive at CP is a milestone moment in my career. I’m excited to lead the team into this next phase, ensuring we continue to provide the insight and support our clients need to drive their businesses forward.”

David Kendrick, CP’s Head of North and Corporate Finance Partner, added:

Over the past decade, our automotive specialism has gone from strength to strength. We now audit over £7 billion of automotive retail turnover annually in the UK and remain the leading corporate finance advisers, involved in 40% of transactions across the sector each year.

Since becoming part of a growing CP, my role has evolved, and as Head of North, my focus is on driving expansion across the region. That makes this the perfect time for Ian to take the lead in steering our automotive sector strategy. His deep sector knowledge and hands-on experience make him the ideal person to take us forward – building on our market-leading position and expanding into new areas like the automotive supply chain.

I’ll remain actively involved in the sector, particularly on the transactional side, working closely with Ian to capitalise on the huge opportunities ahead. I can’t wait to see Ian and the team take our automotive specialism to the next level.
