What do you do?

I’m a senior associate within the service charge team. That means I’m responsible for reviewing commercial and residential service charge year end accounts, which involves close communication with both client accountants and client operational staff. Aside from this, I’m involved in internal operational processes, specifically internal reporting and the constant evolution of our processes through my skill with Excel.

Why do you do it?

My decade-long experience is within residential service charge, primarily working for property agents – a career I fell into straight out of university. Whilst I had no background in accounts, I quickly developed a flair for the day to day and for improving efficiencies through an ever-evolving love of Excel. The Cooper Parry service charge team was the next step for me in terms of cultivating those skills and providing the best use of my experience in the property industry.

What kind of projects have you been involved in?

I have overseen a number of projects to improve our internal processes with the goal of cutting down the time we spend on admin tasks, so we can focus on doing the work our clients need. As an example, I have improved our internal partner sign off process by applying a reporting system that allows us to forecast when a job will complete, enabling our partners to plan their time in advance, so the client has little lead time between their client’s approval and a signed set of accounts.

What’s on top of your bucket list?

Aside from seeing Birmingham City win the Champions League… I’d like to go to Las Vegas. I love poker and would want to wrap it up in a road trip around the United States.
