What do you do?
I have the privilege of working with some of the most exciting and disruptive businesses around to raise the money they need to achieve their ambitions. I help businesses get ready for investment by building out documents that spell out an exciting investment case and strategy to appeal to potential investors. I work with companies to approach a range of relevant investors such as high net worth individuals, venture capital funds and larger corporates and help them in their discussions and negotiations ahead of an investment.
Why do you do it?
I love the variety of who I get to work with and being on the cutting edge of trends and technology. I trained in audit which gave me a great technical understanding, but it is working with entrepreneurs that excites me, their passion and drive is infectious even if half of my job is trying to keep them under control! I also enjoy getting to know investors in this space, what their motivations are and how they assess opportunities to invest in, as well as negotiating with them in the cut and thrust of a deal.
What kind of projects have you been involved in?
In recent years I have advised some of the most exciting new brands in the UK and in some new areas for investors including investment by an international brewery into a Kombucha business and the first venture capital fundraise for an axe throwing business, one of the most exciting ‘competitive socialising’ concepts’ who raised £1.5m.
I have also advised on more traditional SaaS and technology fundraises, as well as acting for several breweries and hospitality offerings.
What’s on top of your bucket list?
To visit Alaska and see the Northern Lights. I am a city person but nothing beats getting away from it all to the absolute middle of nowhere!
