What do you do?
Every day is different in the world of Service Charge but in short, my team and I certify and review information sent over to us by managing agents in line with industry guidelines and regulations. The managing agents are our clients who manage a wide variety of residential and commercial properties. An average day could involve query resolution meetings with our clients, preparing a set of accounts, vouching invoices, utility analysis’, answering queries through our system Snapshot and giving our clients advice and help where possible.
Why do you do it?
After disliking and subsequently dropping out of my first year of university, I stumbled across a service charge accountant role within a managing agent. I knew I wanted to work in a finance-based role but never thought I would love service charge as much as I did. After 3 years I then found myself looking for a new challenge and was approached and invited to interview at CP and the rest is history! CP has allowed me to continue to work in my ideal sector whilst funding my studies to become a chartered accountant.
What kind of projects have you been involved in?
I mainly work on our commercial portfolio with a few residential sites thrown in here and there, every day is different!
I enjoy speaking to and meeting new people which has led to me being involved in the training of new members of the Service Charge team and giving support where possible.
What’s on top of your bucket list?
Travelling, anywhere and everywhere!
