What do you do?
I work as the Recruitment Manager for Cooper Parry. My role is to promote CP as the employer of choice, make sure we advertise our vacancies and provide an excellent candidate journey to anyone applying to work for us. I also provide insights, advice and support to Hiring Managers on the best way to market their vacancy and how to identify the right person for them.
Why do you do it?
I love working with people! I love helping others and in this role I get to help people internally identify their needs, look for the right fit and then work through the recruitment process, and I get to help people externally looking to make the right career move for them. There’s nothing better than the feeling of recruiting the absolute right fit for a role, seeing the spark between a Hiring Manager and a candidate, and then seeing that person after they’ve started and gone on to do well. It gives me a real buzz!
What kind of projects have you been involved in?
I am involved in helping promote CP as the ‘employer of choice’, so reviewing the platforms we do this on, how we do it and creating new ways to promote our culture allows me to really put out there our strongest commodity – our people and our culture. I work for the HoD who has been working towards a new employer brand which is really exciting, and doing more to promote who we are as a team and what we can do to benefit the business has been really rewarding.
What’s on top of your bucket list?
I would love to do something with animals like bathe the elephants in India, help rescue donkeys in Spain, help clean out the puppies at the RSPCA – anything to do with animals and helping out something that cannot necessarily help themselves would be amazing. Also I want to learn to play the piano… just because I wish I’d learnt to play an instrument when I was younger (in my dreams I’d be able to play at professional level and wow people with my dexterous music making!)
