What do you do?

I audit the accounts of pension schemes in the Pension Audit team at Cooper Parry. This basically means I check that the values included in a pension schemes financial statements are correct. I have also spent time in the Core Audit team, so I have experienced a variety of different accounts. 

Why do you do it?

I have enjoyed mathematics since I can remember – it’s what I chose for my degree! Working with numbers was always going to be my ideal career, and audit seemed like a natural choice. The culture at Cooper Parry is great and definitely not the typical work life of an auditor you would think of! 

What kind of projects have you been involved in?

Within the Pensions team I have been involved in the auditing of a variety of schemes and I consider learning the differences between each of these to be a new project. I have also assisted with the preparation of accounts as well as auditing schemes that have entered the Pension Protection Fund. 

What’s on top of your bucket list?

Travel! I have a bucket list with a variety of places I would love to visit at some point in my life. I have managed to complete some already – including swimming with whale sharks in the Caribbean Sea and visiting 2 of the 7 wonders of the modern world.
