What do you do?
I work in the Audit department of Cooper Parry delivering audit services to not for profit clients. My role is to deliver audits from planning through to completion making sure everything runs smoothly. I help train up junior staff, review their work and provide final documents to Senior management.
If one of my friends asked, I’d say I work for the best audit firm who aren’t like any other accounting firm – Audit is a whole lot of fun at Cooper Parry.
Why do you do it?
After completing University, I worked at a pensions administrator where I felt bored (if I’m honest) working in the same environment everyday, doing the same job day in, day out. So, one day I sent letters to the top 15 accounting firms in the UK to get a job in audit. I got a job at one of them, got qualified and then ended up at Cooper Parry in January 2016.
I love Cooper Parry because every day is different. I love the clients, the variety of work, working with fantastic people who are driven to succeed, and most of all the opportunity to be myself. The flexible hours are awesome too, which means when I am office based, I can work flexibly, which helps with the school run and other commitments.
What kind of projects have you been involved in?
I haven’t yet been involved in any projects, but I am about to do a IT Hackathon. This is finding ways of using excel to help data analysis which will make audits run more smoothly and ultimately improve customer experience.
What’s on top of your bucket list?
I’d love to travel around the world but that will have to wait a good 15 years because I have two young children to bring up in the meantime. For now, I want to be the best parent I can be to my two kids while having a lot of fun. Why is it top? Because I don’t want any regrets in life.
