What do you do?

I work mainly with Academy schools, both SATs and MATs, supporting them not only through the year end accounts and audit, but also building relationships during the year. This ranges from accountancy support, assisting with budget returns, internal assurance to having a general catch up over a cuppa and a few biscuits

Why do you do it?

Having started out in audit and accounts I got the opportunity to work with Academies as my previous firm developed their Education team. I loved working within the sector, particularly working with the people that work with schools, and became a full-time member of the Education team. That team, from previous firm, then transferred to Cooper Parry in order to facilitate the growth of the Academy portfolio, and I decided to transfer with it and here I am!

What kind of projects have you been involved in?

If auditing schools isn’t exciting enough! Amongst other things I’ve been involved in numerous training sessions with clients, as well as assisting them throughout the year. One of the most rewarding things is being able to say to a client you have been working with to look back at where they were 12 months ago and see the progress they have made.

What’s on top of your bucket list?

Snorkelling in the Great Barrier reef with my family. Why would you not want to visit one of the seven wonders of the natural world (and Australians are known for their modesty so it must be epic)? I am told that this is one of the most beautiful natural places to see, but it is also such a delicate eco system that is at risk from continued human activity so it would certainly be one of the top items on the ‘bucket list’ before it is damaged further and disappears!
