What do you do?
I’m a Relationship Partner and Board Member of CP – I help clients grow their business with (hopefully) practical, common sense advice. Looking at problems through a client’s eyes and helping to come up with solutions; brainstorming ideas and looking at problems from different angles; helping to ask the right questions and to spot problems or opportunities, and always trying to go the extra mile.
Why do you do it?
I fell into accountancy having done a Law Degree and, if I’m honest, hated it at first and nearly went back to being a lawyer! 30 years later though I still love it – the variety and quality of the clients I’m lucky enough to work with, the people at CP, and the continuing growth of the firm means that no two days are ever the same.
What kind of projects have you been involved in?
The audit of an iron ore mine in India; fundraising for new factories and production facilities; sale of clients to Private Equity and Trade buyers; Image Rights, contract review and tax work for Premier League footballers; company acquisitions and due diligence work; company valuation work for a global commodities trading group; involvement in commercial negotiations on clients’ behalf regarding contract disputes and shareholder disagreements; acquisition and mergers of professional practices.
What’s on top of your bucket list?
To one day complete playing the list of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the UK! (I’m about a third of the way through).
