What do you do?
As an audit manager I work with clients in a variety of sectors, balancing their compliance requirements and their commercial needs. This means no day is ever the same and that’s one of the great things I love about this job.
Why do you do it?
Since school I always wanted to work with numbers in a meaningful way. So being an accountant for me is more than just financial reporting and compliance, it is playing a key role in a client’s company, helping them grow and prosper by suggesting better use of their resources.
What kind of projects have you been involved in?
Diverse is the first word that comes to mind. From working with olive tree growers in Spain to manufacturers of laser cutting machines in the Midlands, the number of projects I have worked on is varied. Yet all of them though have provided good challenges and required the type of problem solving that has helped clients to pass any barriers they were currently facing.
I was lucky enough to be able to go on an international secondment to Atlanta and learn how US businesses operate.
What’s on top of your bucket list?
Where to start! If I had to pick a top one, I have always enjoyed pushing myself mentally and physically so completing the 56km Inca Trail to Machu Picchu would be on the top of the list (and I’ve signed up to take this challenge on in November!)
