      What do you do?

I work with schools and academies helping them with all aspects of finance and governance – budgeting, accounting, internal assurance, project work – it’s an incredibly varied role. I also write and present on issues affecting the sector. I’m a great believer in the value of collaboration and sharing best practice.

      Why do you do it?

I love working with schools. I’m passionate about education and have worked in the sector, both in school and as an advisor, for about the past 15 years. I get to work with some great, incredibly committed people helping them to do the best they can and make the funding go as far as possible. The variety and people aspects suit me down to the ground but also let me make use of my finance skills.

What kind of projects have you been involved in?

All sorts! Recently I’ve been doing some really interesting work for expanding Trusts looking at new schools joining – both the financial and practical aspects of expansion. I’ve helped schools gain a clearer understanding of the underlying budget assumptions and the impact that this has on strategy and future plans. We’ve also looked at different models for growth and how these work in different Trusts. No two Trusts are the same, so what works for one might not work for another.

What’s on top of your bucket list?

Travel! I love going to new places, meeting new people but also revisiting. I’ve been all over the place with my husband and three kids but would love to take the boys to Asia. I think they’d love the different cultures, sights and tastes. I’ve never been to India, so that would be top of my list – a month backpacking with my husband would be fab.
