What do you do?
As a manager in the CP Innovation team, I speak to our clients about projects they are working to deduce the eligibility for tax incentives and help them to identify eligible costs that can be included. I manage their claim from the start to the end, being the main point of contact, working with team members to pull technical and cost information together into a robust report.
Why do you do it?
I was not looking to move into the world of tax, it happened by chance in 2015, and I am so pleased it did! I love that I can mix my background in biomedicine and technical support in the biotechnology sector with advising clients on how to save cash.
I get a real buzz out of learning about clients’ existing and new manufacturing processes and the development of new products and technology. I get paid to learn about the latest advances in technology, how good is that? CP is a great place to work, there is lots going on that you can dip in and out of, lots of training and support, and an amazing, supportive team. It really is all about the people.
What kind of projects have you been involved in?
Recently, I have helped a food manufacturer with their R&D incentives claim. One project involved the development of vegan sauces, which was great, because I love anything to do with food!
Another client develops technology for the transport sector, and we helped them to secure a credit of over £100,000 for the development of automated methods to monitor the growth of vegetation on the railways (amongst other projects). The pandemic has impacted many of our clients, so it has been great to see products developed that will help in the fight against the pandemic, as well as help the client save cash.
What’s on top of your bucket list?
Going on an exciting trip abroad with my kids and husband – family and making memories are everything to me.
