What do you do?
I’m an audit manager in my day to day job but, outside of work, I’m a big sports fan. I play football regularly and watch matches when I can. I love the outdoors and nature and I’m a big animal lover. Last year, my wife and I celebrated her 30th birthday at Port Lympne Safari Park and Wild Animal Reserve which was a fantastic experience. At home, we have two Silver British Shorthairs (fancy cats) which keep us entertained. I also love board games: my particular favourites are Scrabble, Ticket to Ride and Exploding Kittens (it’s not what it sounds like). I’m also really into my gardening and recently harvested my first crop of home grown spinach and tomatoes which was a big success.
Why do you do it?
I’m basically a huge nerd. I was very into Maths as a youngster and I’ve always loved puzzles. This led me to study Accounting and Finance at the University of Liverpool, which naturally brought me to audit. I enjoy working with different companies and industries and meeting a large variety of people in my role. I was based in London for eight years and when I decided to move back to where I call home (Leicestershire), I looked for Midland’s based practices and CP jumped off the page for me as it’s such a modern, interesting place to work and somewhere that seemed heavily people focused. Joining CP was a no brainer for me!
What kind of projects have you been involved in?
Since I joined CP, I have been involved in lots of projects. One of my main clients is a multinational pharmaceutical company, which has been hugely interesting and exciting as it is a large group audit. The accounting side has been both technical and challenging but, at the same time, I have enjoyed learning a lot about this industry and the complex accounting that is involved.
What’s on top of your bucket list?
I love nature, hiking and travelling; so one of my dreams is to trek through the Amazon Rainforest and visit the impressive salt flats of Bolivia. Whilst I spent a year living in China and also spent time on secondment in Africa, I have never had the chance to visit South America so this is something I would love to do one day.
