On Wednesday 7th March, we opened our doors to nearly a hundred entrepreneurs from the Midlands business community. At the second of our CP Talks events, we hosted Peter Roberts – serial entrepreneur and founder of the UK’s largest gym chain, PureGym.
Having worked in a variety of industries, in many different roles, Peter talked about the lifecycle of a business including how to grow, fund and exit a company. He shared stories from his 40 years as an entrepreneur, and explained what it takes to take a brand like PureGym from concept through to a £160m turnover business and a Sunday Times Fast Track 100 company.
The event formed part of our CP Talks series – a new event programme which aims to bring entrepreneurs and business owners together from across the Midlands to network, connect and be inspired.
It was the second CP Talks event we’ve hosted. At our last event, we were joined by Jenny Campbell, founder of YourCash and the latest Dragon to join the Den.
The evening was held at our brilliant Birmingham office, which was recently featured in The Telegraph as one of The Top 10 Coolest Offices in the UK.
On the evening, our Head of Audit, Andy Chandler, said:
“At PKF Cooper Parry, we pride ourselves on doing things differently, and in a way that continues to make us the number one choice for entrepreneurial business owners in the Midlands.
“Peter delivered a fantastic talk this evening, as did Jenny Campbell at our last CP Talks event.
“Events such as this give entrepreneurs a fantastic opportunity to network, connect and be inspired in a business community that we’re very proud to be a part of.”
Wait, there’s more
Peter shared some fantastic stories and gave our audience some great advice. So, look out for more opinion pieces from our event, which we’ll be sharing on our website and social media channels soon.
